Simple installation of a fish finder
I fitted a fish finder recently for a local in his open fibreglass boat.
The location of the finder was governed by the fact it was a tiller steer engine so you are always on the rear seat steering with your view either to port or forward as the tiller arm is on the port side.
I cut several inches of the seat cushion and packed under the mounting bracket with a plastic block to get it to the correct height.
The cables were run and clipped in place using cable clips. As the battery is in the stern it was only a short cable run.
The transducer needs to be on the starboard side in this installation and the correct pilot hole for the screws helps you don’t want to snap them as stainless is brittle.I put shorter screws in than the ones supplied as these would have gone all the way through the transom.
It didn’t take long to do as no wires had to be run anywhere needing cable pullers and no wires needed extending.
